In Loving Memory of Leon Arthur Meyer

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leon Arthur Meyer at the age of 85 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on the 30th of March, 1938, Lee's journey through life was marked by his unwavering independent spirit and a passion for the arts.

A distinguished veteran, Lee served honorably in the US Army, achieving the rank of Specialist 1st Class as a cryptographer in a listening post in Germany during the Cold War.

Professionally, Lee received his architecture degree at the University of Cincinnati and spent the majority of his career as a city planner and ultimately, the Director of City Planning for Cincinnati. His visionary leadership and commitment to community engagement were instrumental in shaping the city's future.  Lee loved sports, especially tennis. In his youth, he was an exceptional athlete who carried his competitive nature into all aspects of his life. He enjoyed travel and gastronomy, especially chocolate. He collected many types of local art and attended Playhouse in the Park for more than 40 years. Lee supported the Playhouse as an honorary producer on multiple occasions. He was a devoted attendee and Board member of the New Thought Unity Center.

Lee leaves behind his devoted spouse, Barbara Nora Meyer; his sons, Cristopher A Meyer and Ian A Meyer, and their spouses, Lori and Marketa; his grandchildren, Andrew, Katherine, Joshua, Collin and Isaak; and his great-grandchild, Xylia. Preceding him in death was his first spouse of 48 years, Arlene Klamka Meyer. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in honoring Lee's life. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on April 4, 2024, at New Thought Unity Center, 1401 E. McMillan St., Cincinnati OH 45206.
